An analysis of 788 oral presentation sessions at five major addiction science conferences held from 2021 through 2023 found that only 76 sessions (9.6%) included perinatal substance use content, and 39 (4.9%) focused primarily on the perinatal period. Presentations emphasized long-term infant neurodevelopmental outcomes, while overdose and postpartum substance use received relatively little attention. The findings suggest a gap between conference programming and important clinical needs during pregnancy and the year after delivery.
